Seats & Harnesses
Seats
The following seats are known to fit for the Exocet:
- MEV supplied GRP
- Sparco Sprints
- Motordrive (please double-check sizes)
- Cobra Monaco Pro
- OMP TRS - Builder used solid mounts so please check if you use stock runners
MEV supplied GRP seats can be made to fit using the runners from the original seat base. This provides adjustment forward and backwards. It is also possible to statically fix them in place without the runners.
The Mk2 MX5 runners can be modified to bolt down flat by:
- Bending the front mount flat
- Cutting off the seatbelt mounting plate
- Cutting a small triangle out of the rear mount, bending flat & welding back together.
Seatbelts
If you have an older chassis without a harness bar then seat belts are taken from the MX5 and used in the same manner by attaching as shown below. There is a hole as shown for the inertia reel unit which must be kept vertical to operate
Harnesses
All currently supplied kits come with a harness bar included, this is the preferred method.
You may opt for a harness bar in which case you will need wrap around type harness’s. These will bolt to the floor plate and tunnel plate hole and wrap around the harness bar. Note that IVA inspectors will want access to the adjusters on the belts. You will need holes in the back of the seats for harness’s which must pull without distortion or load on shoulders.
